Cyriel Buysse (1859-1932)

Flemish naturalist writer. Founder of the literary group Van Nu en Straks. He was an anticonformist with strong anticlerical feelings who repeatedly expressed his solidarity with the oppressed. 

His friend Maurice Maeterlinck called him the Flemish Maupassant.
