Jean Rey (1902-1983) Lawyer from Liège, son of a protestant minister who was a freemason himself. Several times minister in the Belgian Government. Minister of State. He was a liberal humanist with great conciliatory and diplomatic qualities. He pioneered the European institutions and was president of the European Commission from 1967 till 1970. He was orator of the clandestine lodge l'Obstinée, which was founded at Oflag XD, where he was a prisoner of war.
